18-20 September 2013
New York City, USA

The three sponsoring organizations of the Children’s Rights and Business Principles (UN Global Compact, UNICEF and Save the Children), hosted an array of sessions during and around the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit on 18-20 September 2013 to bring children’s rights and business to the sustainability agenda.

The series of events provided an opportunity to introduce the Principles to those who are not yet familiar with them and the issues they cover, as well as engage companies and other stakeholders in ongoing activities focused on learning and implementation.

Both as a vulnerable group, but also as important change agents and our future, children are a key stakeholder on the agenda of the Rio+20 Summit. It is in everyone’s interest that their wellbeing is ensured, and that the world they grow up in will be a sustainable one. This event, as part of the Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum, provided an opportunity for business leaders and other stakeholders to explore how their decisions can maximize the positive impacts and minimize the negative impacts on children.
